EU Directive – General Product Safety Regulation
For those of you not in the loop.. GPSR is the new thing you need to comply with if you are selling into the EU. And if you are external to the EU (Brexit Britain etc) for small scale sellers.. it’s basically the end, even more so when you consider (like we UK’ers have to) the loss of sales due to the customs borders + costs. GPSR is a smeg.
Can we do anything? Yes! Will we? Probably no. Sales have slumped since Brexit, the additional costs of GPSR (3rd party services required) is the nail in the coffin.
So is that it then? Well no. The only thing I can take from the words the EU have put on the GPSR website is.. Products built and for sale before 13th Dec 2024 can still be sold into the EU. Meaning new batches / new 8bit things, most probably not.
But what happens when the next 8bit thing happens? It simply will not be for sale into the EU (or NI) if my interpretation are correct.
So as it stands, everything currently listed on TFW8b.com was made prior to 1st Dec 2024.. And that’s not even bullship… coz we silently updated the PU2 on the first to match the ROM features in the 3!
