Penultimate+3 DCR?
The Penultimate+3 is super popular! So is it time for a re-think?
The idea behind the Penultimate+3 was to add an SD2IEC for those of you that would prefer to keep your cassette port free or just simply desktop neatness. And rather than adding the additional cost of the SD2IEC + Cable etc to all PU customers, we’d do it as an addon, coz Shirley most people own one of my SD2IEC’s by now, so they don’t really need another one??..

Well guess who was wrong! Sales of the PU+3 are outstripping PU+2’s One Million to One (I may exaggerate). That along with my distaste of Micro SD’s, I think we’re going to re-hash the PU PCB into a single’ish solution, meaning we can use a full sized SD card.
So don’t be surprised if a new PU+3 happens in the new year, that’s simpler for me to make and hopefully a little bit cheaper.. hence DRC 😀

Hi,
I’m looking to buy one of your super devices for the Vic 20 I recently bought, but I dont know what to go for tbh. I have owned an SD2IEC from your good self for years now for my C64, and I recently tried it on my Vic, with a ram cartridge I also recently bought, but for some reason, I can’t get the file browser to load with the ram cart plugged in, but it loads fine without, which is quite annoying. The problem is a lot of the decent games need extra ram, so HEEEEELP 😄
Can you advise me on the best solution please?
Many thanks and happy new year!
James

I’m assuming you mean you don’t own a Penultimate+2/3 cartridge? As that has a built in filebrowser that should take care of any memory config issues for you.

No I don’t own a Penultimate cart, but it looks and sounds like a great piece of kit that I should probably order!
It sounds like you already recommend this so I will no doubt order one soon 😄

Hi Rod,
As I fully expected this is a truly EXCELLENT piece of kit! Mine arrived yesterday in pristine condition, and nicely packaged too!
A wonderful modern solution for a great vintage computer, that takes away any need for piles of tapes, disks, or carts everywhere (although they are still cool), and is great to look at too!
Every Vic owner needs to get this, really!
Thank you, snd keep up the great work!
All the best,
James.
