It’s such a good feature we had to make a NOW version!
Production prototypes of the Penultimate+3dcr will soon be landing here at the Pink Windmill. This means behind the scenes we’ve been working on it’s features & firmware.
The big changes (to me at least) is the Full Sized SD card Socket, coz nobody is a fan of Micro SD’s #FACT!. That and the fact it’ll be simpler for me to build and hopefully cheaper to make in the long run (hence the cr). But the exciting thing is what I’ve only up till now dropped hints about.. ITS THE FASTLOAD STUPID!
In the context of the PU+3dcr, it’s not simply FASTLOAD.. (we’re calling it TurboLoad in the PU+3 more on that later.. Officially it’s part of our ‘TFW8b Turbo Technologies’ or ‘Future Load’ that Dave has been working on since 1876 (2017 IIRC). Anywho, in the PU+3dcr, it isn’t just LOAD it’s other high speed disk operations too!
Anywho, the long and the short of it is. As soon as we realised how fast and reliable it was (as fast as JiffyDOS & your C2N will still work!) we just had to find a way of squeezing in a scaled back version into the current PU+3. And that’s what happened, so if you had a delayed shipment to your PU+3 order, you now know why!. I’ve been shipping the PU+3 (7.50ET TurboLoad version) for a little while. 😀
To be clear, the current version of the Penultimate+3 now includes TurboLoad – And it does that, it loads things from SD2IEC or DISK much much faster’er!
FYI the PU+3′s TurboLoad works with SD2IEC, 1540, 1541, Eccelerator+ et al, 1770, 1771. But not 1551 or 1581.
